Amey, Aecom and WSP are among six contractors to have scooped places on a £90m engineering design framework in Northern Ireland.
They join Jacobs, RPS Ireland and AtkinsRealis on the Department for Infrastructure’s (DFI’s) Major Works Planning, Assessment and Delivery Framework.
The deal will see the successful firms work on projects including the Lagan Footbridge, which will connect south and east Belfast to the city centre.
This scheme, designed to create a safe and sustainable access route for pedestrians and cyclists, is part of a wider drive to promote active travel in Northern Ireland.
As part of the framework, the contractors will also provide engineering design consultancy to the country’s four City and Growth Deals, which represent £1.2bn of investment.
Amey Consulting managing director Alex Gilbert said the award built on the firm’s already strong presence in Northern Ireland.

The DFI is responsible for the maintenance and development of critical infrastructure in Northern Ireland.
Through its focus on water, transport and planning public services, the department is seeking to manage and protect £32bn of public assets.
Amey was among 15 firms this month appointed by Network Rail to deliver £3.5bn of infrastructure works in the East of England.
