Kier, Morgan Sindall and Willmott Dixon are among 14 contractors picked by the University of Cambridge for a £680m pipeline of work.
The firms will carry out work over the next four years across the university’s operational estate, which ranges from Grade I-listed buildings to laboratories and research facilities, museums, a farm and a botanical garden.
Major construction works under the framework – with a total value of £650m – are split into projects worth more than £7.2m and those valued at between £1.2m and £1.8m.
Bam, Bowmer & Kirkland, Kier, Morgan Sindall, SDC Builders and Willmott Dixon will be taking on the higher-value work, with the smaller jobs divided between Barnes, ISG, Morgan Sindall, RG Carter, SDC Builders and Willmott Dixon.
Ed Sutton, pre-construction director at Bowmer & Kirkland, said the firm’s selection was a “great platform” to expand its operations in the Cambridge area, as well as in the science and technology sector.
“Our high performance over many years on numerous national frameworks stood us in good stead to offer a service proposition that aligned with [the university’s] Estates Division’s needs,” he said.
The second framework, worth £30m, is made up of projects valued at between £450,000 and £1.8m, and those worth up to £600,000.
